The Quantum Zone

Join us at at the Royal Society’s Summer Science Exhibition

To celebrate International Year of Quantum Science and Technology the NQCC has convened partners from across the UK to build an exhibit for the Royal Society’s Summer Science Exhibition. We will be showcasing the latest in quantum technologies in accessible ways. Curious about what is happening in quantum science and technology? Then join us at the Quantum Zone from 1-6 July 2025!

The Quantum Zone

The Quantum Zone aims to showcase the exciting research and innovation in quantum technologies that is being carried out by academia, industry and government across the UK. Our exhibit includes the following areas:

Quantum building blocks

What is quantum? What is a qubit? Explore these questions and more. Here you can learn about the core concepts behind quantum science and technology through interactive activities about components used to build different quantum technologies.

Building quantum technologies

Learn how scientists and researchers use quantum concepts and components to build different technologies. From quantum chips to quantum sensors, you’ll discover a range of quantum technologies being developed by researchers across the UK.

Quantum in the real world

Explore how quantum technologies are currently impacting our lives and how they may impact them in the future. Whether you’re interested in healthcare, climate, finance or beyond, you can explore how quantum technologies are relevant to you.

About International Year of Quantum Science and Technology

Recognizing the importance of quantum science and the need for wider awareness of its past and future impact, dozens of national scientific societies gathered together to support marking 100 years of quantum mechanics with a U.N.-declared international year.

Our exhibit is part of these international celebrations aiming to increase public awareness of the importance of quantum science and applications.

About the National Quantum Technologies Programme

The UK is leading a global race to develop this new quantum era, forging its research strength into market opportunities through a co-ordinated and coherent National Quantum Technologies Programme (NQTP).

Founded in 2014, this programme represents a partnership between government, academia and industry, one that is fast-tracking quantum knowledge from laboratory to wider society and economic impact.
